Hello..
Hello. I guess this is Day 1 of the POSTDATA site and Day 1 of my “blog” for lack of a better word. I guess “journal” is a better word. Diary? Journal. It’s kind of strange starting something that no one really wants or needs or asks for. I asked myself in the mirror earlier whether I’d want to hear anything journal-like from me and I came to the conclusion that I don’t really think I’d be all that interested in what I have to say… but maybe, if it was by someone else that I liked, I might be slightly interested to check in on what this person was thinking from time to time. But I’m not someone else. Maybe nobody reads this. So I’ll perhaps think of this for now, of my part in this, as a mental exercise to stave off Alzheimer’s or Dementia in later life if nothing else, if no one actually ends up reading these entries or responds– kind of like a crossword puzzle or Sudoko… It’s actual kind of lazier than those things though and I doubt it staves off anything except the occasional bout of boredom. Maybe it’s just a little fun… Sorry, I’m not making this very intriguing..
I didn’t actually ask myself anything in the mirror earlier. I thought it would be a funny thing to say.. Ha.. Ha, for those of you who don’t know is actually mock internet laughter.. Or maybe not straight up mocking laughter but you say it when you think someone is trying to say something funny but you actually don’t think it is and you’re being nice to them, or you think it is slightly funny but not really and you can’t really think of anything to say back but want the joke to end…
Okay then, back to the main track.. Welcome to whatever this is. I think I’ve established it as a journal. My brother Michael is going to also probably write some things on this, link you to crazy mind blowing sites, be a friend in the best way one can via internet communication… if you only let him:)
Feel free to respond in any way you feel like responding, a smiling emoticon or a frowning one, a story be it fictional or non-fictional, a head nod, whatever you like. Have a nice day..
XO P

Coleridge. Just think if it had been opium instead of scotch; you’d not remember half the things you wrote and then lament what could have been.
Welcome Postdata! Here’s my initial analysis of the band name/sound…(as if you care) The name conjures up thoughts of postcards kept in a shoebox containing a life’s worth of memories of travels, dream chases and freedom. These postcards are kept as a database of life (ie Postdata). The earthy, simple and laid back musical style only further illustrates the lineage between life’s memories and simplistic musical roots, as Paul’s acoustic and bare bones performance opens the lid of that shoebox, uncovering his memories for all to see.
ha ha..(see above for interpretation of that phrase). Anyway, Good luck with this project and can’t wait to hear more!
Steve
Hey Paul, just curious if you guys are going to be doing any shows around Halifax anytime soon.. ?
*Head nod*
as i sit at work, looking at my posted notes…the database..the web design gear i also ponder the ‘above’..i live in the above, looking down from…you can feel powerless.
..on a happy note..another side project? can only bring good vibes! cant wait to grab the album…
There is a stark contrast between your lyrics and music at least on my first listen. I read where these songs originated and it makes sense that they would turn out like this. Music is very dreamy and the lyrics surreal with a dab of a dark nightmare here or there… or everywhere. Suppose you know better than anyone.
I suppose it reminds me of the mood I am put in after listening to Wintersleep’s self-titled. Musically it is obviously something else entirely though.
Going through my second listen now that I know everything ahead of time. Enjoying immensely! Thanks
I actually started a blog early this December, too. It’s hosted on a gopher server and it’s in Esperanto, because I don’t like reading blogs or diaries and I have never wanted to write a blog or diary. But it’s a good way to extend yourself, to do something you don’t really want to.
Tobias Grey is a wonderful song! Perhaps ‘wonderful’ isn’t a fitting word, but I just watched this film adaptation of The Call of Cthulhu, so most things that are good don’t seem too dark right now. Anyways, thanks for tiding me over ’til the next Wi’s’ CD; you have a way with words.
Here’s my internet text face: ‘/:-[]
Care to play in Portland Maine sometime? Either as Postdata or Wi’slee’, I would be on it like snow on a statue.
